Chanel Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer Lip Gloss in Pin-up

Chanel is one of my favorite makeup brands of all time. I have been faithful with its sophisticated eye shadows for years. Ironically, I had never tried their lip gloss until April this year. I was waiting in line, by the counter, for other girls before me to try Chanel summer 2008 collection. While waiting, I noticed a beautiful line-up of peach-toned Chanel Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer lip glosses on the product display for summer 2008. I decided to try them for the first time. The lip gloss quickly won me heart. I wish I had tried it sooner.
Chanel Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer has been a cult classic for years. I have Pin-up from the line at this time.

Shade
It has an intense pigment with dense shimmering flecks. Pin-up is a light golden peachy-pink with tiny gold flecks. The color is more to the golden peach side. It is a natural-looking nude peach shade, which doesn't make me look washed-out
.

Texture & Scent
It has a thick formulation. But the texture does not feel sticky. All the lip glosses from Chanel
Chanel Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer do not contain any scent or odor.

Finish & Coverage
The gold flecks look quite glistening in the tube. But they are not so noticeable on the lips. The lip gloss a good amount of pigment. It delivers frosty shine and a sultry wash of color. The finish is subtly elegant. The golden peach shade and the micro-fine shimmer give my lips a fuller dimension naturally.
The only downside is it tends to leave the trace of shimmery particles on the lips when the color wears off.
Lasting Power
The lip gloss has a great stay-put texture without being drying. Compared to other lip glosses, I don't need a lot of touch-ups with it throughout the day.

Summary
Chanel Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer lip gloss has quickly become part of my makeup staple. Overall, it is a well-rounded lip gloss. I do think Pin-up, the light golden peach shade with a hint of pink, compliments most skin tones.

The lip gloss imparts a watery shine with a hint of subdued shimmer that is simply dazzling! If you are a fan of shimmering lip gloss, you probably don't want to miss Chanel
Lèvres Scintillantes Glossimer lip gloss.

MAC New View Collection: The Mineralize Skinfinish Duos

MAC Cosmetics launches at least one or two limited-edition collections every month. With so many collections coming out within such a short period of time, I can hardly catch up with their speed. Also, with so many "limited-edition" collections, their uniqueness is questionable for me. But, finally, there is one MAC collection that has caught my attention again (since MAC Heatherette Collection) and that is New View Collection.

New View Collection will be available in the US and Canada in July, 2008. It is a duo version of Mineralize Skinfinish. There will be five variations of the Mineralize Skinfinish duos. It is a combination of the existing Mineralize Skinfinish Naturals and "Natural and Shimmer" Mineralize Skinfinish. The Mineralize Skinfinish Naturals provides a natural-matte finish. And, the "Natural and Shimmer" Mineralize Skinfinish adds shimmery highlights and a polished look to the face.

Check out the details:

  • Light Medium/Natural & Shimmer: pale golden beige/warm yellow beige
  • Medium/Natural & Shimmer: soft creamy beige/light peachy pink
  • Medium Dark/Natural & Shimmer: caramel/light tan
  • Dark/ Natural & Shimmer: deep caramel/mid tone yellow gold
  • Deep Dark/Natural & Shimmer: rich golden bronze/deep copper bronze

Lavshuca Fall 2008 Collection

I was devastated by the heat wave attack on the east coast over the last weekend. It is still early June, and the temperature has spiked up to 100° F. While I am suffering the heat wave attack, I found out that many cosmetic brands are ready to release their fall 2008 makeup collections starting August 1st, just two months away.

Kanebo's Lavshuca will launch its fall 2008 makeup collection on August 1, 2008 in Japan. There are three new lines in the collection, including Rouge Star Classics, Dual Prism Eyes and Creamy Liquid Foundation.

The colors of Dual Prism Eyes, shown on the top right of picture above, seem to look similar with Noble On Color Eyes from the spring 2008 collection. They are both quite neutral and muted. It is, however, too early to make a judgment now. I look forward to seeing more updates and images from Lavshuca's fall 2008 collection.

Updated on July 9th, 2008:

Here are the line-up and product images of the collection:

Product Review: Bath Mousse & Soy Fabulous Whipped Body Butter from bōbē

Bath Mousse & Soy Fabulous Whipped Body Butter from bōbē

bōbē is a Canadian brand established in 2005 that offers bath and body products. All the products are made fresh when the customer places an order. And the ingredients are kept few and as simple as possible, which is good for sensitive skin. There are over a variety of 120 scents and flavors, blended with exotic ingredients and fragrant oils, for customer to choose from.

Bath Mousse
Bath Mousse is a body cleanser with a light scent. It is available in more than 40 scents. The one I have tried is Green Tea & Cucumber. Green Tea & Cucumber has a delightful green note. It is pleasantly light and uplifting. The scent is suitable for hot summer days.

Bath Mousse has an extraordinary feather-light texture. It has a fluffy mousse consistency. It turns into gentle foam in seconds when it is in contact with the skin. It feels like whipped cream, so silky and velvety on the skin. In fact, it feels so smooth and light that it also works as a good shaving cream. The mousse cleanser leaves my skin soft and moisturized.

Soy Fabulous Whipped Body Butter
Soy Fabulous Whipped Body Butter provides moisture and soften the dry rough skin. It is made with a non-greasy formula. It leaves my skin soft and supple with good moisture without any sticky or filmy feeling. I can feel a touch of moist residue on the skin soon after the body cream is applied. But then, it does take some time to go away, presumably absorbed into skin.

Soy Fabulous Whipped Body Butter has a whipped cream-like texture. It is easy to distribute the cream onto the skin. I have tried the one in the scent of Shooting Star. It is a sweet fruity aroma with a grassy note. I like the lightness and crispness of the green note. The sweet part is a little overpowering initially, but it starts to go away after a little while. I personally prefer clean green notes for bath and body products. For people who love sweet fruity aromas, Shooting Star would be the scent you will like.

You can purchase bōbē bath and body products at its website. The company is committed to giving back and supporting charities. 5% of bōbē retail sales are given to a different charity in each month.

"Fabulous" Chewing Gum from Japan

Lotte, a confectionery manufacturer from Japan (equivalent to Wrigley in US), came out with a chewing gum called "Glamatic" that will make you ashamed of your Orbit chewing gum in your fashionable tote.

Glamatic chewing gum is available in three flavors: mixed-berries flavor (black packaging), lychee flavor (pink packaging) and muscat flavor (green packaging). They all have very unique and tastefully pretty packaging to match your taste of fashion.

A Japanese blogger suggested that the black and pink versions of Lotte Glamatic Gum are reminiscent of the beloved cosmetics brands, Anna Sui and Jill Stuart. I think the black version does remind me of Anna Sui Cosmetics.

Have you tried them? I haven't tried any of these yet, but I think the packaging is really princessy and dreamy. I hope they taste good too. They are available at jbox.com for $1.50 each.

Product Review: Aloette Invigorating Body Scrub and Clarifying Hair Shine Collection

I've posted a review on a few cosmetics from Aloette last week. This time, I am bringing you the review on Invigorating Body Scrub and Clarifying Hair Shine Collection from Aloette.

Invigorating Body Scrub
The Invigorating Body Scrub line consists of three aroma scented body scrubs; including White Chocolate & Orange Body Scrub, Green Tea & Mint Body Scrub and Sandalwood Body Scrub. The body scrub does not parabens and sodium lauryl sulfate. It features a blend of natural ingredients, including natural leaf extracts, fruit extracts and sugar cane extracts.

The Green Tea & Mint is my favorite scent in the line. The scent is light and refreshing. The Sandalwood scent is woody and sensuous. The aroma of Chocolate & Orange is too sweet for my liking. Overall, I enjoy using the Invigorating Body Scrub. The creamy texture goes on easily. The microbeads doesn't feel grainy or harsh. It can lightly foams with the water, and leaves my skin soft, smooth and clean.

Clarifying Hair Shine Collection The Clarifying Hair Shine Collection comes with Clarifying Shampoo, Clarifying Conditioner and Clarifying Shine Serum. The Clarifying Hair Shine Collection aims to revitalize the hair, add moisture, shine and volume to the hair.

The Clarifying Shampoo and Clarifying Conditioner are formulated with rice protein, vitamin B, aloe, wheat amino acids and silk amino acids. Aloe and wheat provide moisture. And rice protein protects against color fading, residue build-up and frizz.

Vitamin E and soy protein in The Clarifying Shine Serum provide hydration and nourishment. Dimethicone works as a shine agent and cuticle protector to make the hair manageable and silky smooth.

The Clarifying Shampoo and Clarifying Conditioner does a good job strengthening and adding volume to my hair. My hair feels healthy and stronger. The volume lasts decently well between the days I wash my hair. The Clarifying Shampoo and Clarifying Conditioner leaves my hair fairly moisturized. It is not adequate, however, for long and dry hair like mine (past to the shoulder blades).

The Clarifying Shine Serum is my favorite in the collection. By simply massaging a right amount of it into the hair, it softens, smoothes and hydrates the hair. My hair regain moisture and lightness within minutes. The Clarifying Shine Serum works great as a finishing mist to tame down the frizz and adds a healthy radiance to the hair.

Aloette does not test their products on animals. You can buy Aloette products from Aloette. At this time, the website only accepts order that ship to the US and Canada.

*These samples are provided by Aloette. However, this review is solely based on my personal opinions after using this product.*

OPI Summer 2008 Collection: Retro Fun in the Sun

OPI has released two summer collections; "Mod About Brights" and "Retro Fun in the Sun". Mod About Brights captures the fun and edginess from the 60s, but with a bright twist. The shades include royal blue, vivid green, bright pink, orange, yellow and coral.

I was not impressed by Mods About Brights collection. The colors from the collection are vivid and pretty. But I feel it looks like a new color range extended from OPI's India Collection for Spring '08, which has twelve rich and bold shades. I expected the new collection for the summer to be more light-catching with a splash of shimmer.
Retro Fun in the Sun collection came out in late May. I am really fond of this particular collection. Each of the bottle comes with a ponytail holder attached to the cap. The ponytail holder looks more chic on the picture than what I saw on the bottle. I appreciate OPI's effort to make the nail polish bottle look cuter.
Shade Description
The Retro Fun in the Sun Collection contains six glittering shades, including Peach-a-Boo! (apricot with pink sparkle), Sit Under the Apple Tree (apple green), Lemonade Stand by Your Man (yellow), Give Me a Coral Sometime (pink coral), S
ea Ya Later,Sailor! (turquoise shimmer) and Calendar Girl (pink red). Inspired by the beach party by the sand in the summer, all the shades are shimmering with high level of sparkles, which adds brilliance to the nails.

My Favorite Shade from the Collection: Peach-a-Boo! (what a pun huh ;-))
I have been intrigued by shimmery coral nail colors since Dior Shimmering Corals Collection was out in April. Since the Shimmering Corals Collection was not available anywhere except in Japan, I was hoping other brands would come up with something soft with a touch of coral. Peach-a-Boo from OPI Summer 2008 fits into this category!Peach-a-Boo is an apricot shade with pink sparkles. The shimmering flecks are very dense and intense. The pink shimmering particles are quite noticeable, and they reflect a lavender color from different angles. It is semi-opaque with just a coat on. With two or three coats of application, it has an opaque coverage. The finish is a frosty pink with a hint of peach color. The glittering particles dazzle with light nicely. The high shine and intense shimmer look the prettiest on my nails under the sun. The color is subtle, yet playful and vibrant. I can understand why OPI names this collection "Retro Fun in the Sun".
The brush is easy to apply. It offers a streak-free, even application. The color lasts decently well. I think the peachy-pink shade of Peach-a-Boo is the most universally flattering shade in the collection for all kind of skin tones. For girls who like colors with a twist of fun, it is worth checking out Sea Ya Later, Sailor!. It is a pretty light shimmering blue that is so perfect for the mood in the summer.

Aube Summer 2008 Makeup Collection

Aube released its early Summer 2008 collection a while back in mid April. The mini collection features Gloss Fruitina lip gloss, Impression Eyes eye shadow palette and Puff Bounce Cheek color. Its Summer 2008 Collection will be out on June 14th, 2008 in Japan. Check out what it has in the collection:

Gel & Shine Eyes
Gel & Shine Eyes is a limited-edition gel and loose powder eyeshadow. It is available in six pastel, shimmering shades, including blue, pink, purple, gold, green and brown.
Dual Color Eyeliner
Dual Color Eyeliner features a dark shade with black pearl shimmer on one end and a bright shiny shade on the other end. It is available in six limited-edition color combinations, which are coordinated with the shades from the Gel & Shine Eyes series.
Rouge Purely Stay is available in ten new shades.
Coil Comb Mascara
The Coil Comb Mascara is waterproof and available in two shades, black and brown. The mascara wand has a three-in-one design that features a coil brush, a comb brush and a mini brush. Check out the enlarged picture below for a closer look.
The coil brush coats the lashes from the base of lashes up to the tips. The comb brush separates the lashes. And the mini brush works for the lashes at the corners of the eyes and the tiny lashes of lower eyelid.
