OPI Summer 2008 Collection: Retro Fun in the Sun

OPI has released two summer collections; "Mod About Brights" and "Retro Fun in the Sun". Mod About Brights captures the fun and edginess from the 60s, but with a bright twist. The shades include royal blue, vivid green, bright pink, orange, yellow and coral.

I was not impressed by Mods About Brights collection. The colors from the collection are vivid and pretty. But I feel it looks like a new color range extended from OPI's India Collection for Spring '08, which has twelve rich and bold shades. I expected the new collection for the summer to be more light-catching with a splash of shimmer.
Retro Fun in the Sun collection came out in late May. I am really fond of this particular collection. Each of the bottle comes with a ponytail holder attached to the cap. The ponytail holder looks more chic on the picture than what I saw on the bottle. I appreciate OPI's effort to make the nail polish bottle look cuter.
Shade Description
The Retro Fun in the Sun Collection contains six glittering shades, including Peach-a-Boo! (apricot with pink sparkle), Sit Under the Apple Tree (apple green), Lemonade Stand by Your Man (yellow), Give Me a Coral Sometime (pink coral), S
ea Ya Later,Sailor! (turquoise shimmer) and Calendar Girl (pink red). Inspired by the beach party by the sand in the summer, all the shades are shimmering with high level of sparkles, which adds brilliance to the nails.

My Favorite Shade from the Collection: Peach-a-Boo! (what a pun huh ;-))
I have been intrigued by shimmery coral nail colors since Dior Shimmering Corals Collection was out in April. Since the Shimmering Corals Collection was not available anywhere except in Japan, I was hoping other brands would come up with something soft with a touch of coral. Peach-a-Boo from OPI Summer 2008 fits into this category!Peach-a-Boo is an apricot shade with pink sparkles. The shimmering flecks are very dense and intense. The pink shimmering particles are quite noticeable, and they reflect a lavender color from different angles. It is semi-opaque with just a coat on. With two or three coats of application, it has an opaque coverage. The finish is a frosty pink with a hint of peach color. The glittering particles dazzle with light nicely. The high shine and intense shimmer look the prettiest on my nails under the sun. The color is subtle, yet playful and vibrant. I can understand why OPI names this collection "Retro Fun in the Sun".
The brush is easy to apply. It offers a streak-free, even application. The color lasts decently well. I think the peachy-pink shade of Peach-a-Boo is the most universally flattering shade in the collection for all kind of skin tones. For girls who like colors with a twist of fun, it is worth checking out Sea Ya Later, Sailor!. It is a pretty light shimmering blue that is so perfect for the mood in the summer.
