The Roses Lipstick Collection, a collection of five new lipsticks, is a celebration of lip colour as the star product and essential heart and sensual soul of the Dolce & Gabbana The Make Up. It is a tribute to the most singular of flowers, the rose, and the forever fundamental inspiration of all that is-and has always been-Dolce & Gabbana. This collection explores the primal lure of lipstick: the essence of sensuality as both an intimately private and a disarmingly public gesture.
A salute to the iconic glamour of the 1950s-its underlying eroticism, its smoldering sensuality-The Roses Lipstick Collection embodies the utmost in seduction. Lips, the ultimate symbol of feminine allure, are enhanced and emboldened as the key to a woman’s duality-her simplicity and complexity, her strength and vulnerability.
“To me, lips are a woman’s most evocative feature; they are the focus of her femininity, the key to her innermost being. The shades she wears must capture her many moods,” says Domenico Dolce, “since the rose has always been an icon to us, representing deep womanly sensuality in full bloom, it seemed natural that it served equally as inspiration in our quest for the perfect collection of lipsticks.”
“We also wanted to emphasize the act of applying lipstick, which should be the most luxurious and most intimate of beauty rituals, so finding the perfect rose scent was crucial,” says Stefano Gabbana, “as the design of the lipstick as an object of absolute beauty too, is essential.”
Each and every lipstick shares an intoxicating velvety smooth fragrance redolent of the wild rose gardens of Sicily, innate to the designers’ deepest roots. Inspired by these classic and beloved rose gardens, the designers have further transformed the ‘100 petals’ scent (omnipresent throughout the lip products in The Make Up collection) to live as a modern formulation that evokes a euphoric sensory experience. Adding further nostalgia, when the lipstick case is shut, a special clicking sound adds a hint of intrigue.
The Shades: The Roses Lipstick Collection consists of five extraordinary lipsticks with nuanced shades ranging from bold to delicate, inspired by five memorably unique roses. A result of the designers’ discerning eye, eachlipstick’s colour meticulously matches its namesake rose. Each lipstick shade is taken from a classic antique wild rose that has been carefully cultivated as a modern hybrid.

the classic lipstick Scarlett, a shade inspired by the most classic of all roses, the vibrant Scarlett Fire Rose, is the sole Classic Cream Lipstick of the collection. Scarlett is dedicated with love and admiration for The Designers’ longtime muse Scarlett Johansson, who epitomizes femininity and glamour at its most pure, most provocative and primal. Just as the rose-and particularly this select group of roses-Scarlett encompasses femininity and glamour in all its various guises; a cool blue-red shade... bold, magical, luminous and lasting.

Shine On, inspired by a relatively recent hybrid, the Rosa Shine On, which is characterized by a tender infusion of apricot, peach and gold. The lipstick is kissed by light and glows with sparkling hints of blush tones.
Magnifica, inspired by the deeply fragrant mauve-red rose, the Rosa Magnifica, is a warm red with a sleek shine and daring intensity that reflects the essence of all that is Dolce & Gabbana sophistication and style.
Baby Darling, inspired by Rosa Baby Darling, a miniature apricot-pink rose, the shade is a lustrous pale pink with a subtle, delicate shine to glaze the lips with natural luminosity.
Fascination, inspired by the most modern of the hybrids, the Rosa Fascinata, a precious pink rose with a demure scent. Fascination is a lush, yet delicate deep pink with distinctive shine and innate duality.
The Look Masterful make-up artist Pat McGrath continues her collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana, creating a new look that is all about reds, roses and pinks-and all about Scarlett Johansson’s powerful yet ethereal femininity.

“I wanted to create a range of lipsticks that really reflected Domenico and Stefano’s longtime obsession with roses as the ultimate flower expressing love, lust, femininity and life”, says Pat McGrath, “at the same time, I wanted to celebrate the remarkably comprehensive palette - with so much colour in just five lipsticks. The goal was to uncover new and intimate layers within Scarlett in a classic yet modern way. To capture the intensity of the moment, I played with strong contrast to create a full range of rose-inspired shades. The Designers envisioned warm and cool tones in matte and gloss finishes - and I think the collection reflects this. It is classically elegant with a modern rogue sensuality”.
