Product Review: La Mer The SPF30 UV Protecting Fluid

La Mer The SPF30 UV Protecting Fluid

In March 2009,
La Mer introduced The SPF30 UV Protecting Fluid (1.7 Oz. for $65 USD), a new sunscreen that provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection as well as skincare benefits. This sunscreen without tint has SPF30/PA++ protection, suitable for daily use in late spring and summer.

Color

This sunscreen is in creamy off-white with a hint of pale green and it goes on clear. It features the fresh, clean signature scent of Crème de la Mer, which is one of my favorite scents when it comes to skincare.

Texture
The texture of this sunscreen is light fluid cream. It contains very fine beads that dissolve readily by rubbing them with the fingertip in the palm. It is easy to smooth the fluid over the face in small circular motions. It feels slightly rich to the skin, but not too creamy or dense. The fluid is absorbed into the skin very quickly. When it settles into the skin, it leaves the skin soft and well-moisturized without any white cast and oily feeling.

Finish
While the sunscreen keeps my skin well-hydrated, it also makes the skin look fresher, more luminous and clear.

Ingredients
The SPF30 UV Protecting Fluid is based on the principle of light energy. It contains gemstones of tourmaline and Brazilian malachite that capture light energy and transform it into beneficial green light to boost the anti-oxidant effect on the skin.

Also, it features Hollow Photonic Spheres, which redirect and diffuse light. When diverting light, Hollow Photonic Spheres give a luminous and radiant effect on the skin.

Formulated with a Smart Seaweed Ferment from robust red and brown algae, it helps moisturize the skin and helps protect against extreme climates.

Summary
The SPF30 UV Protecting Fluid is a gentle and moisturizing daily wear sunscreen for the summer. It is non-greasy, and absorbs well leaving the skin soft and well-moisturized. The moisturizing effect is soothing and long-lasting. I like that it creates a luminous and glowing effect on the skin and works well as a primer for my makeup.

Well, of course it'll act as a primer, it's chock full of silicones. There's more fragrance in it than most of the herbal ingredients that fool people into thinking that kind of price is justified. It's sad really.
