Jill Stuart Mix Blush Compact #12 Candy Orange from Jill Stuart Spring 2010 Collection

Jill Stuart Mix Blush Compact

Usually, I am not a big fan of pink blushes, which I think it makes me look like having an alcohol flush reaction (a.k.a Asian glow.) I prefer bronzers or neutral-toned blushes to create a natural-looking effect for my fair complexion. However, Jill Stuart Mix Blush Compact (in #12 Candy Orange) that I bought not long ago has made me fall in love with a touch of pink blush once again.

#12 Candy Orange (in peachy pink variation) is one of the two blush palettes from Jill Stuart's spring 2010 makeup collection. The other one is #11 Rose Fairy (in pink variation). #12 Candy Orange is my first Mix Blush Compact, and immediately became my one of my favorite blushes.

Packaging

Mix Blush Compact is one of Jill Stuart's top-selling ranges since the blush range was launched in fall 2007. Its various pink-based colors, ultra princessy and dreamy vintage packaging are a winning recipe.

I keep most of my makeup items in containers and only take out the items I need to use when I do makeup. But Mix Blush Compact sits beautifully on my vanity table. It is the perfect item to decorate my vanity.

The retractable brush with dense goat hair feels soft on the skin. It also comes with a detachable chain that is attached to the palette. Inside the palette is a mirror that is big enough for quick touch-ups.

Color

Top left: off-white pink with subtle sheen
Top right: golden orange with subtle shimmer
Bottom left: cherry pink with subtle shimmer
Bottom right: peachy coral with subtle shimmer

Shimmer & Pigment
Though the colors look bright and intense in the pans, they go on light and sheer. The shimmer appears rather subtle and demure.

The off-white pink is the sheerest shade, and the golden orange is the second lightest shade among the four colors. The bright cherry pink and peachy coral are more pigmented, but they are still on the light side compared to the blushers from Western brands.

Texture
The power is blendable, buildable, and has a refined and silky smooth texture. It is easy to pick up the colors with the brush.

Finish
#12 Candy Orange is a versatile palette. While the off-white pink is great for highlighting, the golden orange provides a soft shading/contouring effect. The subtle shimmer gives a soft glow without looking overly shiny or shimmery.

I love the fact that colors from this blush compact can be applied together or individually to create different tones, pigments and shimmering effects. When blended, the colors impart a touch of light peachy pink with a fresh, luminous finish.

Lasting Power
It has a fairly good lasting power.

Summary
I love the soft colors, light pigments and subtle shimmer in #12 Candy Orange palette. The color combination is one of the most lovely cheek colors I have ever tried. It creates a lovely peachy pink finishing touch of color that is suitable for daytime.

Compared to the blushers by Western brands, #12 Candy Orange is on the light side. Applying it with a light hand achieves a barely-there coverage with a transparent, luminous finish.

Personally, I think #12 Candy Orange is more versatile than #11 Rose Fairy (in pink variation.) Available in both warm and cool tones, the pink and orange colors coordinate well to be mixed and matched for both cool or warm skin tones.

If you have fair skin and have been thinking of trying Jill Stuart's blushers, Jill Stuart Mix Blush Compact in #12 Candy Orange is definitely recommended.
