Shiseido Smoothing Lip Pencil RD702 (Anemone)

Shiseido's international makeup line, simply called Shiseido, has been revamped since its spring releases in January, 2009. The famed British makeup artist Dick Page is the Makeup Artistic Director of Shiseido.

Shiseido Smoothing Lip Pencil RD702 (Anemone)

Perfect Rouge (in 20 shades) and Smoothing Lip Pencil (in 7 shades) are the initial releases debuted with its spring '09 collection.

Smoothing Lip Pencil is currently available in seven shades in different tones: pink, red, raspberry, beige and brown. RD702 (Anemone) is one of the two shades categorized as red in the lineup.

Color

Though RD 702 (Anemone) is categorized as red, it is a neutral-toned light pink with slight berry and grey undertones.
The color of the tube captures the actual color of this lip liner very well.

Texture
Compared to my Chantecaille Lip Definer in Nuance, the texture of Shiseido Smoothing Lip Pencil is relatively firm. It is, however, not stiff or harsh to the touch. It gives a smooth and precise application without dragging the skin.

Packaging

The built-in lip lining brush with soft, natural bristles is easy to use. I haven't had any problems with the bristles falling out.

Pigment
It offers a rich, full pigment that covers the redness and uneven skin tone of my lips effectively. The shade complements my lip colors in light pink and pinkish nude.

Finish
Though RD 702 is a light pink with slight berry and grey undertones, it goes a pastel, cool-toned pink on my lips. The finish is slightly cool-toned, but not overly bright or chalky. It gives subtle depth and definition to my lips.

Lasting Power
Shiseido Smoothing Lip Pencil is long-lasting. It does a good job preventing the lipstick or lip gloss from feathering. This lip liner shade comes off slightly after drinks and light meals. The color does wear off after a meal.

The review on
Shiseido Perfect Rouge lipstick in BE109 (Spiced Cream) from Shiseido spring '09 collection is coming up in a couple of weeks later. Stay tuned!

Great review! ;)
I have exactly the same color, and it's my FAVORITE lipliner ever since I purchase it a few months ago. <3

The color is brighter than my natural lips, but once applied and blended a bit, it somewhat melts with my own lip color.

One important reason why I love it so much is the fact that it goes with most of my lipsticks and glosses that I have (except for orange and coral colors).

I actually have a pretty old Shiseido lipliner that has seen better days, but I continue to use. I should think about replacing it with one of these lovely new ones.

Dear Jess,

Good to hear from you again! :) I am so glad that you enjoyed reading this review!

RD702 also goes slightly bright pastel pink on my natural lips.

After blending, it goes well with my light pink and pinkish nude lip colors. I really hope Shiseido will expand the lineup of Smoothing Lip Pencil. :)

Cheers,

BA

Hi Ghettoflower,

Thank you very much for sharing your experiences with Shiseido lip and eye colors.

I have this lip liner and Perfect Rouge lipstick in BE109 (Spiced Cream). Perfect Rouge has become one of my favorite lipsticks.

I am really glad that you love Shiseido's new single eyeshadows. I will try them out when I stop by the Shiseido counter next time. :)

Best wishes,

BA

not many people i know actually use lipliners. i don't either but this product got me. and its brush is fabulous. my MIL who uses lipliners as lipsticks (go figure!) now swear by this product.

the colour you have is one of her babies. :P
