Shiseido Perfect Rouge in BE109 Spiced Cream

Shiseido Perfect Rouge in BE109 Spiced Cream

Shiseido's spring 2009 Perfect Rouge Collection debuted with Perfect Rouge and Smoothing Lip Pencil was the first revamped lineup created by Dick Page who has been Artistic Director for Shiseido's makeup range since March, 2007.

In 2009, Perfect Rouge is definitely one of the most highly-raved lipsticks. It is not only an award winner, but also has gained good reviews among beauty editors, bloggers and consumers around the world.

I bought Smoothing Lip Pencil in RD702 (Anemone) and Perfect Rouge in BE109 (Spiced Cream) in spring. I have been enjoying wearing both of them. Today, I am going to share my experiences with Perfect Rouge in BE109 (Spiced Cream), which won 2009 Allure Best of Beauty Editors' Choice Award for Best Nude Lipstick.

Color

BE109 (Spiced Cream) is a light beige nude with no shimmer. On my lips, it is more of a pale creamy nude. Wearing it alone can make my lips look a little washed-out. But I love this shade for its versatility and blendability. It goes well with my other pinky nude and light pink lip colors.

Texture
Perfect Rouge is lightweight, creamy and velvety smooth. It glides on buttery. It has good moisturizing effect, and does not dry out the lips.

When my lips are well-moisturized, I find that it is not necessary to apply a lip balm before wearing Perfect Rouge.

Pigment & Finish
Perfect Rouge can be layered to build the intensity of pigmentation. One layer imparts a sheer finish with a touch of shine.

It is full-pigmented and satin-matte in pale creamy nude with three layers or more. I love the way it makes my lips look fuller, dewy, yet matte. Its coverage on fine lines, however, is not the best I have ever tried.

Staying Power
Perfect Rouge does an amazing job in preventing the color from feathering. The lasting power is fine. It needs touch-ups after drinks and meals. But for a lipstick with such a creamy formula, it is not a surprise for me.

Packaging

The revamped packaging in the shape of the brand's camellia logo is more elegant and sleeker than the old packaging.

Summary
I am impressed that a rich, high-pigmented lipstick like Perfect Rouge achieves a semi-matte look with a dewy, lustrous finish. There were many times I wore Perfect Rouge alone without applying any lip gloss on top.

It is very lightweight, moisturizing, and doesn't dry out the lips. Most of all, it does not feather easily.

Overall, I think Perfect Rouge is a beautiful lipstick combining the rich pigment of a lipstick with the moisture and luster of a lip gloss. I look
forward to trying other shades from the lineup, and hope to see new colors of Perfect Rouge in Shiseido's seasonal makeup collections.
