Boots No 7 Protect & Perfect Line

A new anti-aging range of Protect & Perfect skin-care produced by Boots is available in UK. According to Bella Sugar, rumor has it that this series of day cream, night cream and eye creams will hit the shelves in the US this coming fall. The Protect & Perfect line is extended from last year's successful Restore & Renew Beauty Serum, which is called Protect & Perfect Beauty Serum in UK. The Protect & Perfect line contains antioxidants, including firming pro-retinol complex, that help repair signs of aging, smooth out the wrinkles and rejuvenate skin.

When Restore & Renew Beauty Serum first came to the US last summer, I remember it was the most talked-about product in town. It sold out everywhere in short period of time. Then, girls had to be on waiting lists to get their hands on the Beauty Serum. Now, there is no more struggling with Restore & Renew Beauty Serum since the hype has faded and this cult beauty item can be easily found at local CVS and Target.

I haven't tried Restore & Renew Beauty Serum yet. I have been expecting something else like a moisturizer or night cream to work for my dry skin. I am glad to learn that the Protect and Perfect line is now available in UK. I will plan on trying this line when it is available in the US. If you have tried this products, I am very much interested to hear your experience with it.

I recently went to London and tried various products from their 3beauty lines (No. 7, Botanics & Time Delay). I just have to say..Wow!!! Probably the best beauty products I have ever tried. They transformed my skin beautifully! Younger, softer and glowy! Even my husband noticed. You can find most of the products on CVS.com. These are must have products for everyone above 30...

I haven't tried any of its skincare products. But I already have heard many good reviews, including yours, on its various products. I am really glad the products have transformed your skin beautifully!

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience with Boots! I think I will pick up some skincare products from Boots soon!

Hi BA! So far, I'm really liking the Restore & Renew Beauty Serum. It's light and I think it's leaving my skin more refined (but I want to test it out a little more ; )

As for the Protect & Perfect coming to the U.S...it's not the same formula as the one in the U.K. It's actually a body care lotion that's been reformulated to meet FDA regs (the name-switching is getting confusing, lol)

Hi Jazmin,

Thanks a lot for sharing how you try out The Beauty Serum. Let me know how you feel about it after you test out a little more.

As to the Protect & Perfect line, I hope I am not wrong on the information. I know that the formula is slightly different between the US and UK version of Beauty Serum. Boots claims that the difference is a slight molecular variation in the formula in order to pass the FDA regulations, but both versions provide the same results.

You mentioned the Protect & Perfect body care lotion has been reformulated to meet the FDA regs. Does it mean only the body care lotion from Protect & Perfect is scheduled to hit the US in the near future?

Do let me know if you have any information about the Protect & Perfect coming. I hope I am not wrong on the information.

Thanks a lot for stopping by and leaving your comment!

Cheers,

BA

Does anyone know if this line is safe for pregos or nursing moms? It was compared against Retin-A type prescription products (and found effective), but the presciption creams are NOT safe for pregnant or nursing women (their babies anyway)!

Hi there,

I am sorry for the belated reply. I actually have been researching the related information, and has been looking for the answer for you.

But I do want to answer your question properly. :)

If you don't mind, I would like to pass on your question to one of my fellow bloggers from Beauty Blog Network who may have better knowledge than me on this issue.

I will get back to you again as soon as I have the answer for you.

Thank you very much for your patience.

Best,

BA

Hi there,

I apologize for my belated reply.

I want to especially thank Christine of 15 Minute Beauty Fanatic blog for helping me with your question!

The retinoid forms of vitamin A are use in skincare for anti-aging. Vitamin A is absorbed through the skin, induces a skin turnover rate, and rejuvenates the skin for a more youthful appearance.

For pregnant women, excessive vitamin A is associated with birth defects. Thus, retinoids are not advisable for pregnant women.

Boots No 7 Protect and Perfect skincare line contains a pro-retinol compound. It is best that pregnant or women planning pregnancy avoid topical use of it.

I hope the information helps! Again, I apologize for my belated reply.

Regards,

BA

Hello everyone, there seems to be a lot of confusion around using pro retinol when pregnant. I am 9 weeks pregnant and have researched many websites around this. Almost 80% of comments I have found, as well as research, states that pro-retinol found in face creams etc is completely safe to use when pregnant. The best info I found was from a Skin Research scientist who actually works for Boots. This is what he said:

Hi, I am Stewart Long, Skincare Scientific Adviser for Boots and I just thought I should reply to you and put your mind at rest regarding vitamin A and Protect & Perfect following the discussions on Dispatches last night. Protect & Perfect does not contain vitamin A and in fact, nor do any cosmetic products, as vitamin A is legally not permitted to be used in cosmetics. Protect & Perfect contains pro-retinol, which is from the same family as vitamin A but is a safe and mild cosmetic ingredient, widely used in cosmetics and skincare products. Just to assure you, pro-retinol is not capable of being absorbed into the blood from applying it on the skin and poses absolutely no risk during pregnancy.

Vitamin A, as described by Dr. Chu, is a medicine that can only be obtained on prescription. This medicine has to be carefully restricted during pregnancy because it does have risks. It is for this reason that pregnant ladies must not eat very much liver, as this contains vitamin A.

I hope this answers your questions and clarifies the difference between Vitamin A and pro-retinol. If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact us on 0207 908 6575.

HOPE THIS HELPS TO EASE SOME OF THE FEARS OUT THERE. WILL POST MORE OF MY RESEARCH THAT I FOUND SOON.
