Product Review: La Mer The Treatment Powder Foundation SPF15
I am sure most of you are not foreign with La Mer's signature skincare ingredients and its use of high technology on its products. Ever since La Mer debuted the Skincolor line in 2006, this base makeup line has received overwhelmingly good reviews. The Powder, The Treatment Fluid Foundation SPF15 and The Treatment Créme Foundation SPF15 have been an all-star line-up.
I was very excited to learn about the release of La Mer The Treatment Powder Foundation SPF15 in May 2009. It is the first ever powder foundation in La Mer's base makeup line-up.
Color
The Treatment Powder Foundation SPF15 is available in 10 shades. The color I have tried is 09 Ivory, which is the second lightest shade in the line-up.
Texture
The powder is extraordinary fine and silky smooth. It is so lightweight that it feels weightlessly on the skin. The enclosed puff is soft, and picks up the powder easily. The powder blends easily and adheres to the skin very well.
Coverage
The powder is sheer and light. But it can be built up to a medium coverage, depending on how much amount I apply. In other words, I need to use my IPSA White Protect Creative Concealer before The Treatment Powder Foundation SPF15 to fully cover my freckles, redness and dark eye circles.
Finish
With a thin and light application, it imparts a sheer, translucent matte finish. For a light to medium coverage, the finish is velvety matte and evenly smooth but not overly powdery.
Lasting Power
Throughout the day, the finish doesn't turn dull or cakey. The powder doesn't settle in my fine lines. Compared to other powder foundations I have tried, this powder is relatively moisturizing. The oil control ability, however, is slightly weak.
Summary
Overall, The Treatment Powder Foundation SPF15 gives a soft, sheer coverage that evens out the skin tone and texture as well as brings out clarity and luminosity naturally.
What I love about this powder is it feels weightless on the face and it is rather moisturizing for my dry skin. The ability of oil control is probably not potent enough for oily skin type. I personally think this powder foundation would be a good choice for dry and dry to normal skin types or for the use in colder and dryer weather.
