My Thoughts on OPI Fall /Winter 2008 France Collection

I am loving the OPI Fall/Winter 2008 France Collection! This collection represents the sophistication and elegance of France fashion. The colors in this collection are predominantly gray/taupe-based purples, reds and browns. I think the gray and brown undertones give the colors an elegant and calm character, especially on purples. They also make them suitable for all skin tones.

The colors of this collection are beautiful and wearable. Perhaps, they might be considered as too "safe" for people who love eye-popping colors. I usually prefer to wear classic or natural nail colors like reds, pinks, pearls and nudes to complete my look. For some reason, they seem to look better on my skin than bold shades.

There are 12 shades in this collection. Six of them are cream shades, while the rest of them contain shimmer. The shimmers, however, are not that noticeable.

I found the polishes sweep on smoothly, and are relatively fast-drying. In addition, they are quite easy to be removed.

Parlez-Vous OPI?
Parlez-Vous OPI? is certainly one of the standouts of this collection. It has quickly gained its fans ever since the collection was released. Parlez-Vous OPI? is a gray violet shade. The color is true to what it can be seen from the bottle. It is semi-sheer with one coat, and becomes opaque with 2 to 3 coats.

The color appears to change in different light settings and from different angles. It looks more purple under natural light, while it appears more dusty and grayish indoors and at night.

I normally don't wear intense or bold nail colors such as purples and blues. But what I like about the mid-tone violet shade of Parlez-Vous OPI? is that the gray undertone tones down the brightness of purple, and makes the finish feel more approachable.

While I like the uniqueness and edginess of this color, I w
ould only wear it for partying at night. The gray violet shade is too smoky for me at daytime.

Baguette Me Not
Baguette Me Not is a muted coral cream with gray and taupe undertones. The color looks more grayish and brownish in the bottle, while it is more of a muted coral on my nails. It shows a sheer coral pink with one thin coat. The color gets intensified and opaque with a glossy finish after 2-3 coats.

The color is soft, and goes well with my skin. The hints of gray and beige undertone makes the coral looks more subdued yet refined. It is a beautiful year-round nail color that I would wear for daytime and night occasions.

Summary
The only problem I have with the two nail polishes I bought is that they tend to streak. I would suggest that you make sure to dip enough polish on the brush each time to ensure a streak-free application. Overall, I think the collection features beautiful gray/taupe-based hues of red, purple and brown that are effortlessly wearable and understatedly elegant for different skin tones.

Since purples are hot this season, I have just started my venture into eye makeup with purple eye shadows. But I am still not quite sure if they suit me.

Hope you have been enjoying the fall colors! Has any fall makeup collection or color grabbed your attention?!

Thanks a lot for posting your comment!

Hello Park Avenue,

Thank you very much for liking the review!

I was thinking to buy "You Don't Know Jacques!" when I shopped at the salon store last time. I liked this deep grayish brown shade. The color is dark, but not so intense.

I normally don't choose bold shades. But I quite like the dark bold shades from OPI's France Collection.

It is great that you enjoy the collection as well. Thank you very much for visiting!

Best,

BA

Hi there,

Thank you so much for sharing! I am really glad you enjoy Parlez-Vouz OPI? and Louvre Me, Louvre Me Not.

And thanks a lot for recommending Louvre Me, Louvre Me Not. It is a beautiful deep purple shade. Unfortunately, I can't pull this shade off nicely.

Do let me know what you think if you try the Baguette Me Not nail polish. The gray and taupe undertones make it a beautiful muted coral shade that I would wear year-round for various occasions.

Happy New Year!

Best wishes,

BA
