Nars Summer 2010 Makeup Collection
The NARS Summer 2010 Campaign was created and photographed by NARS Founder and Creative Director François Nars. Once again, François turned to his dear friend Amber Valletta and transformed her, drawing inspiration from longtime muse Catherine Deneuve’s portrayal of Sèverine in the movie Belle de Jour.

François began by applying NARS Makeup Primer to Amber’s face, followed by NARS Fiji Sheer Matte Foundation. For a fresh finish he set it with NARS Eden Loose Powder. NARS Orgasm Illuminator was applied to her cheeks, forehead and center of the chin to give her skin a subtle radiance. For a natural flush, François started with NARS Enchanted Cream Blush on the cheeks, followed with NARS Orgasm Blush blended toward the temples to further highlight the complexion.
On her eyes, he applied the iridescent ocean-blue shade of NARS Burn It Blue Duo Cream Eyeshadow to the eyelid, blending upwards toward the base of the brow bone. Next, François swept the left side of NARS Pandora Duo Eyeshadow across the lid, and brushed the rich teal shade of NARS Cleo Duo Eyeshadow into the crease. Eyebrows were defined with NARS Blondie Single Eyeshadow, using the NARS Brow Shader. He lined the eyes with NARS Mambo Eyeliner Pencil followed by NARS Nuits Blanches Eyeliner Stylo creating a full lash line. NARS Larger Than Life Lengthening Mascara finished the look.
Lastly, he prepared the lips with NARS Angélique Pure Sheer SPF Lip Treatment and topped them off with NARS Love Devotion Lipstick.
Nars Summer 2010 Collection Behind-the-Scenes Image
The Summer 2010 Collection is a range of bold and bright hues and creamy textures. François Nars looked for inspiration from the character Sèverine, played by Catherine Deneuve in the iconic film Belle de Jour. “Her character is incredibly beautiful and elegant,” says François. “Her look is effortless—she has an incredible inner sophistication.”
The collection is designed to look striking on a wide range of skin tones and let women’s natural beauty shine through. “I designed the makeup to bring a natural-looking glow to the skin, while allowing women to have fun with color. After all, summer is a playful season, nothing should be too complicated!”

Enchanted Cream Blush ($26): A soft-peach cream blush that delivers a hint of shimmer and smooth, silky color
Burn It Blue Duo Cream Eyeshadow ($32): This iridescent ocean-blue paired with turquoise creates a lively duo cream eyeshadow
Cayenne Cream Eyeshadow ($22): A spicy, deep brown cream eyeshadow that is intensely rich yet carries a weightless texture
Love Devotion Lipstick ($24): A nourishing, long-lasting sheer guava lipstick
Coup de Coeur Lip Gloss ($24): Just like the French phrase it’s named after, this shiny, sheer apple-brandy tinted lip gloss is sure to yield love at first sight
Lamu Multiple ($38): A fresh, glazed-apricot shade with gold sparkles to create shimmering accent
Versailles Nail Polish ($16): Regal and opalescent, this champagne-gold nail hue shimmers, creating a light-catching tint and gilded sophistication
