Fasio Spring 2009 Makeup Collection

Gradation Deep Eyes from Fasio Spring 2009 Collection

One of the recent makeup collections that has caught my attention is Fasio spring '09 collection. The drugstore brand (under Kosé Corporation) comes up with a new range of Gradation Deep Eyes palette. It consists of eight eyeshadow palettes available in browns, pinks, purples, blues, greens and grays.

Gradation Mix Face Color from Fasio Spring 2009 Collection

This collection also features a new range of blusher called Gradation Mix Face Color. Gradation Mix Face Color features three gradational cheek colors, and is available in four variations. I especially like the orange-toned OR220 and the translucent-toned SP120. SP120 seems to offer a highlighting and illuminating effect as it features sheer, translucent shades in off-white and light purple.

The rest of the collection includes:

Hyper-stay Mascara Deep Trick (Curl Long)

Hyper-stay Mascara Deep Trick (Curl Volume)

Mascara Base

Mascara Remover

Majolica Majorca Lash Gorgeous Wing Mascara

Majolica Majorca Lash Gorgeous Wing Mascara

Majolica Majorca Lash Gorgeous Wing mascara was launched as part of Majolica Majorca's fall 2008 collection. The fiber-based mascara is currently only available in black. For the holiday 2008 season, Majolica Majorca released a limited edition Lash Gorgeous Wing in golden brown, which is the version I am going to share with you today.

With golden feather prints against a dark grown background, the packaging design is eye-catching and whimsical.

Majolica Majorca Lash Gorgeous Wing

Lash Gorgeous Wing has a waterproof and sebum-proof formula. The applicator features a
spiral brush sticking with featherlight long and short fibers. This mascara is supposed to give the lashes a dense and feathery effect. From my personal experiences, however, this mascara failed to live up to its promise. I found it gives more of a natural-looking feathery effect rather than a dramatic result that I expected.

Lash Gorgeous Wing does a good job lengthening and curling my lashes. It separates and curls my lashes nicely. It also holds the curl very well all day long. I can even apply this mascara without using my eyelash curler beforehand.

I have come across other reviews on Majolica Majorca's Lash Gorgeous Wing mascara on other beauty blogs. People either love it or hate it. My guess is that its voluming effect doesn't meet everyone's expectations. Lash Gorgeous Wing adds volume to enhance the eyelashes naturally, but not dramatically.

Lash Gorgeous Wing

This mascara does not clump easily. It lasts well without smudging or smearing through out the day. However, this fiber-rich mascara tends to give an uneven finish at the ends of my lashes due to the astray fibers.

Summary
I think the biggest strength of Lash Gorgeous Wing mascara is its waterproof and sebum-proof formula. It provides good staying power without smudging or smearing through out the day.

This mascara offers a a soft, natural-looking feathery result. Due to its weak thickening effect, I wouldn't wear this mascara if I need a dramatic eye look for night occasions. However, I can wear this for a daytime casual and effortless look. It
helps my eyelashes look slightly fuller, and does a good job curling and lengthening my lashes without weighing them down.

Lavshuca Website Updated

Promo Image of Lavshuca Spring 2009 Makeup Collection

Lavshuca's website has been updated with its spring 2009 makeup collection. In fact, the official website has also been revamped, which offers more user-f
riendly navigation and easy access to product information. This is good news since the previous Lavshuca's website was not so well designed.

Full Line of Lavshuca Products

The information provided on the current website includes clear product images, product information and step-by-step instructions. Their website even features swatches of the new Grade Color Eyes palettes and Dramatic Memory Rouge lipsticks from the spring 2009 collection.

Lavshuca Lip Collection

For those of you confused by the differences among Lavshuca's lip collection, the website now features a chart indicating the levels of pigment, luminosity, glossiness and matteness of each lip item. You may find the lip product chart by clicking the "Lav Lip Collection" section on the main page of Lavshuca's website.

Dramatic Drastic Memory Lipsticks from Lavshuca Spring 2009 Collection

I was browsing the website back and forth yesterday morning. The colors of Dramatic Drastic Memory lipsticks from the spring collection look promising! I probably would get the beige-toned BE-2 or oranged-toned OR-1 later.

Surprisingly, Kanebo's website provides more spot-on images of this collection.

Dolce & Gabbana Launch Cosmetics Line

Scarlett Johansson as New Face of Dolce & Gabbana's Makeup Line

Dolce & Gabbana is the latest fashion house to join the cosmetics industry. Dolce & Gabbana is famous for its glamorous and ultra-feminine designs. The fashion duo has collaborated with famed makeup artist Pat McGrath to transform their opulent and sexy style into their makeup line.

Stefano Gabbana told WWD: "We see makeup as another thing for women, like a dress. We worked on the makeup line like we work on a clothing collection — you can change makeup like you can change your clothes, depending on your mood."

The packaging of the new line is in shiny gold with round edges. The colors were inspired by vivid blues from the Mediterranean, the dark burgundy shade of dahlia (Gabbana's favorite flower), and gold and black from volcanic island Stromboli (where the duo likes to stay for summer vacation.)

Part of Dolce & Gabbana's Makeup Line

The makeup line of Dolce & Gabbana is positioned as a high-end brand. The price will range from nail lacquers for $20, mascaras for $28, lipsticks for $30, eye shadow duos for $36, and to finish powder foundation for $59.

Dolice & Gabbana's makeup line is in its initial launch stage. The makeup items are set to be unveiled at La Rinascente Milan Flagship in late January, then arrive at Selfridges (of London) and Saks Fifth Avenue (in Beverly Hills, LA and Fifth Avenue, NYC) in March. Saks has the exclusive distribution in the US for spring.

I remember Calvin Klein relaunched
its cosmetics line about the same time last year. US fashion label Rock & Republic also launched Rock & Republic Cosmetics last September. I am glad to see more and more fashion brands join the cosmetics market, and promote the diversity and growth in the cosmetics industry.

Update on Lavshuca and Kate Spring 2009 Collections

My posts about the spring '09 makeup collections by Lavshuca and Kate have been updated with more product images.

Grade Color Eyes PK1 from Lavshuca Spring 2009 Collection

Lavshuca is one of the spring collections that has grabbed my attention. I am particularly intrigued by its new eyeshadow range, Grade Color Eyes. The Grade Color Eyes palettes offer a range of color combinations in pink, brown, green and purple. These colors look spring-like, fresh and wearable.

Have a look!

Guerlain's spring 2009 Exotic Paradise collection has been launched in the US recently. The limited-edition star items in this collection, Exotic Paradise Eyeshadow Palette and KissKiss Gloss Collector, feature vivid bright colors of peahcy orange, pink and green. The shades are colorful and certainly has an ethereal feel of spring nature.

Unfortunately, I can't really pull off light-colored eye shadows nicely, especially green shades. I am, however, still very interested in the KissKiss Gloss Collector. I would like to see how the green-toned lip gloss reflects the color on my lips.

The Exotic Paradise collection also includes a new eyeshadow range, Ombré Éclat Mono Eyeshadow, available in ten shades.

Guerlain spring 2009 Exotic Paradise collection includes:

KissKiss Gloss Collector: 3 shades (limited-edition)

Review on Lady Dior Palette from Dior Spring 2009 Collection

Lady Dior Palette from Dior Spring 2009 Makeup Collection

As I promised in my previous post I'd share my thought on the Lady Dior palette, here is my review on this beautiful Lady Dior palette from Dior spring 2009 makeup collection.

Packaging
The palette is cleverly designed into the shape of the famous Lady Dior Cannage handbag. It looks like a petite handbag that adds a luxurious high-fashion feel in my vanity box. Without any clip-on design, this palette can be just flipped open. Along with a mirror, it contains a highlighter and cheek/lip color.
Lady Dior Palette from Dior Spring 2009 Collection

The Lady Dior palette is made of polished silver metal hardware and faux leather. So, this couture palette is heavier to hold than regular makeup palettes. It features the classic cannage quilting in faux leather. The charms on this palette come in the capital letters of Dior. There is a silver metal chain on one side. The rounded handles of the Lady Dior makeup palette has a metal and acrylic finish.

Lady Dior Palette

In the functional aspect, I found it doesn't work too well as a key chain or bag charm as I have expected. I tried to accessorize it with my shoulder bags and totes several times. The chain is a little too long for my handbags. Furthermore, the palette is on the heavy side. It is not so practical to use it as a key chain for everyday use.

Lady Dior Palette

Texture
The highlighter shade and the cheek/lip color have a smooth and creamy texture. The highlighter has more of a soft, creamy mousse consistency, while the cheek/lip color is more like a moist creamy tint. The supple texture makes gliding and blending the colors effortless.
Lady Dior Palette

Color
The palette I have, #002 French Chic, features warm tones. The highlighter is in pale soft pink with ultra-fine multi-color shimmer, while the cheek/lip color features matte brick red. The highlighter shade has a warm nude tone and the cheek/lip color has a brown undertone. The shimmer of the highlighter is low-key yet glimmering. This is the kind of subtle shimmer I like.

Finish
The highlighter blends in smoothly, and settles in my skin easily. It looks like a pale nude pink shade in the pan, but it leaves a sheer veil of off-white shimmer on the skin. The highlighter imparts a soft iridescencent sheen on my face.

Lady Dior Palette

The cheek/lip color is well-pigmented. It does need extra work to blend in the color. It goes on sheer once it is evenly distributed. A light layer of application gives a natural-looking and flattering result for my fairly pale skin tone. With one layer, it gives a barely-there, nude contour on the apples of my cheeks and along my cheekbones. And, it achieves an understated flesh-toned result on my lips.

This cheek/lip color can be layered gradually to desired intensity. With more than one layer of application, the finish is overly red-toned on my skin. For people with medium to dark skin tones, you are suggested to gradually build this cheek/lip color to get a richer color payoff.

Lady Dior Palette

Staying Power

Overall, the highlighter and the cheek/lip colors stay put well. But to finish them with some face powder helps the colors last longer.
