Nars Single Eyeshadow in Tropic from Nars Summer 2009 Collection

Nars Single Eyeshadow in Tropic

I like to use blues or greens to create a splash of color in my eye makeup. Turquoise and teal are among my favorite shades to create such effects. I always find these shades very soothing and refreshing.

Ad Campaign of Nars Summer 2009 Collection

In summer 2009, Nars released Single Eyeshadow in Tropic, which is a matte teal with silver glitter. This eyeshadow is inspired by the tropical ocean’s reflective, rolling waves, a memory that reminds François Nars, the founder and creative director of Nars, of his home in Tahiti and the life in Polynesia.

Nars Single Eyeshadow in Tropic

Color

Tropic is a dark greenish blue with silver glitter. The shade is very pigmented. The sparkly particles are rather chunky and large.

Texture

Other than the glitter part, the eyeshadow powder is soft and smooth to the touch. Blending is easy.

Nars Single Eyeshadow in Tropic

Finish

The glitter does not stay on the eyelids well. This is a good thing for me as I am not really a big fan of glitter. On the other hand, the annoying thing is the sparkly particles fall off around my eyes easily when I apply it.

Tropic imparts a well-balanced matte finish between its green and blue undertones, neither overly cool-toned nor overly warm-toned.

This single eyeshadow is quite versatile and wearable. It is deep enough to be applied wet as an eyeliner, and can be built up to a high-pigment finish for a soft, smoky effect. Although it is richly-pigmented, it can be toned down for a sheerer finish.

Nars Single Eyeshadow in Tropic

Lasting Power
The lasting power is fine. This eyeshadow slightly creases in the fold of my eyelids. It wears off slightly within a few hours of application. When the color wears off, the finish turns more greenish.

Beauty Anonymous is Up!

It has been 11 days of nightmare for Beauty Anonymous. Bloglinker, a blog link exchange service, was the culprit of all this mess. Google/Blogger.com suspected Bloglinker script was infectious and decided to remove my blog without any notice. Although Bloglinker service was immediately removed from Beauty Anonymous after the suspected malware script was detected, that never stopped Google/Blogger.com from removing my blog. I have been working to resolve this problem with Google/Blogger.com. And, finally it took 11 days for them to find my blog is clean. I am glad that it is all good now.

I'd like to thank everyone who expressed their support and warm regards during this down time. Special thanks to Betsy of Autumn Masquerade for helping me to reach out the readers about the situation. Also, many thanks to PJ of A Touch of Blusher for her support and being informative while resolving the problem with Google/Blogger.com. I hope her blog and other affected beauty blogs will be restored very soon! I'll continue blogging as soon as I finish grasping the whole ordeal.

Again, thank you very much for you patience and support.

Product Review: La Mer The Treatment Powder Foundation SPF15

La Mer The Treatment Powder Foundation SPF15

I am sure most of you are not foreign with La Mer's signature skincare ingredients and its use of high technology on its products.
Ever since La Mer debuted the Skincolor line in 2006, this base makeup line has received overwhelmingly good reviews. The Powder, The Treatment Fluid Foundation SPF15 and The Treatment Créme Foundation SPF15 have been an all-star line-up.

I was very excited to learn about the release of La Mer The Treatment Powder Foundation SPF15 in May 2009. It is the first ever powder foundation in La Mer's base makeup line-up.

Color

The Treatment Powder Foundation SPF15 is available in 10 shades. The color I have tried is 09 Ivory, which is the second lightest shade in the line-up.

Texture

The powder is extraordinary fine and silky smooth. It is so lightweight that it feels weightlessly on the skin. The enclosed puff is soft, and picks up the powder easily. The powder blends easily and adheres to the skin very well.

Coverage

The powder is sheer and light. But it can be built up to a medium coverage, depending on how much amount I apply. In other words, I need to use my IPSA White Protect Creative Concealer before
The Treatment Powder Foundation SPF15 to fully cover my freckles, redness and dark eye circles.

Finish
With a thin and light application, it imparts a sheer, translucent matte finish. For a light to medium coverage, the finish is velvety matte and evenly smooth but not overly powdery.

Lasting Power
Throughout the day, the finish doesn't turn dull or cakey. The powder doesn't settle in my fine lines. Compared to other powder foundations I have tried, this powder is relatively moisturizing. The oil control ability, however, is slightly weak.

Summary
Overall, The Treatment Powder Foundation SPF15 gives a soft, sheer coverage that evens out the skin tone and texture as well as brings out clarity and luminosity naturally.

What I love about this powder is it feels weightless on the face and it is rather moisturizing for my dry skin. The ability of oil control is probably not potent enough for oily skin type. I personally think this powder foundation would be a good choice for dry and dry to normal skin types or for the use in colder and dryer weather.

If you are interested in La Mer's loose face powder, do check out A Touch of Blusher's review on The Powder (in Translucent).

Dolce & Gabbana The Make Up Holiday 2009 The Golden Beams Collection

Dolce & Gabbana The Make Up The Golden Beams Collection for Holiday 2009 captures the precious singularity of golden tones with a rare depth and an unexpected eroticism, celebrating three ultra femme variations on golden translucence, anchored by the drama and depth of surreal fantasy. Dolce & Gabbana use captivating contrasts to take beauty to a new level of decadence.

A trio of modern-minded golds - Yellow Gold, White Gold and Rose Gold - glaze, flicker and interact to reveal one sublime look that is at once sexy and glamorous. “Gold has always been a Dolce & Gabbana signature,” notes Stefano Gabbana. “This collection, based on three shades of gold,” adds Domenico Dolce, “encompasses the sensual, natural and romantic nuances of surreal femininity.”

The collection includes supple textures to enchant and seduce with glints of gold from an exclusive palette of glistening to pearly tones. A harmony of effortless precision results in a look that’s irresistibly off balance and daringly, distinctively Dolce & Gabbana.

The collection includes:

Smooth Eye Colour Quad in Golds 125 (new) ($59 USD)

Smooth Eye Colour Duo in Gold 130 ($36 USD)

Volumized Lashes in Black 1 ($28 USD)

Crayon Intense in Gold 3 ($29 USD)

Classic Cream Lipstick in Fire 235 (new) ($30 USD)

Shine Lipstick
Left: Sparkling 65 (new) Right: Gold 70 ($30 USD)

Ultra Shine Lipgloss in Magic 145 (new) ($29 USD)

Precision Lipliner in Fire 5 (new) ($30 USD)

Luminous Cheek Colour in Caramel 25 (new) ($44 USD)

Glow Bronzing Powder in Natural 10 ($47 USD)

Intense Nail Lacquer
Left: Fire 125 (new) Right: Royal 165 (new) ($20 USD)

A Key “Golden Beams” Look

A seductive shimmer informs a play of matte neutrals and golds to create a complete face of beauty for the Holiday season that is polished and luxurious. The look showcases precious yellow, white and rose gold shades to create provocative, atonal precision.

The eyes are intense, illuminated with a warmth that appears to glow from within. A play of fine metallics lends an ephemeral shimmer and shine to a rich warm patina of matte brown with the new eyeshadow quad in Gold. Featuring the 3 golds gleam, the look is underscored by the mascara in Black while the eyeliner in Gold adds depth and definition.

Cheeks are suffused with soft light with a new shade of the blush in Caramel. Bold red lips in Sparkling, a new shade of the shine lipstick, mirror the luminosity of the eyes with a creamy intensity. The nail laquer in Royal add a subtle sexy finish.

“Golden Beams is full of drama, but it’s a discreet drama,” says Pat McGrath. “The play of opposites-the brown and golds, the matte ane and shine - is so key; the look is quite daring and evocative-yet also very ladylike, polished and elegant.”

The Visual

The Golden Beams Collection renders and reinterprets this fiery femininity anew with a poignant spectrum of colour that invites infinite possibilities - with ultimate golden girl, Scarlett Johansson. Johansson, who epitomizes the smoldering sophistication of the Dolce & Gabbana woman in all her many glamorous guises, is joined in the new Holiday campaign by David Gandy, the ultimate Dolce & Gabbana man.

Dolce & Gabbana The Make Up holiday 2009 the Golden Beams Collection will be available from October 2009 at select Saks Fifth Avenue stores and saks.com.

Dolce & Gabbana The Make Up Fall 2009 The Romantic Collection

Inspired by Surrealism, the Dolce & Gabbana A/W 09 runway collection echoes both revolutionary sensibility and rebellious spirit. Just as the Surrealists eschewed the conventional to embrace the unpredictable and explore the unimaginable, Dolce & Gabbana break the rules both on the runway and with a new collection of Make Up for fall, tracing the fine line between dreams and reality to create an innovative glamour that teases and provokes. “We worship the surrealists; they pushed the limits-and proved that anything is possible,” says Stefano Gabbana, “With the Romantic Collection, the idea is to break away from the expected to transform beauty, creating a look that is about ultimate fantasy.”

“And the ultimate luxury,” adds Domenico Dolce, “After all, the ultimate luxury is to dream and, for the Dolce & Gabbana woman, the dream should always be a reality.”

The Romantic Collection showcases tone against tone contrast via a rich new range of pinks-from delicate to vibrant to shocking - with a fresh shimmer to lend natural luminosity. Lustrous new shades share a balance of the sensual and the subversive to embody Dolce & Gabbana signature glamour.

This collection includes:

Smooth Eye Colour Quad in Dazzling 160 ($59 USD)

Smooth Eye Colour Duo in Rose 90 (new) ($36 USD)

Volumized Lashes in Black 1 ($28 USD)
Crayon Intense in Platinum 6 (new) ($29 USD)

Classic Cream Lipstick in Soft 65 (new) ($30 USD)

Shine Lipstick

)

Ultra Shine Lipgloss in Baby 75 (new) ($29 USD)

Precision Lipliner in Soft 6 (new) ($30 USD)

Luminous Cheek Colour in Delight 35 (new) ($44 USD)

Perfect Finish Powder Foundation in Creamy 80 ($59 USD)

Intense Nail Lacquer
Left:Pink 100 Right:Soft 205 (new) ($20 USD)

A key “Romantic” Look
Legendary make-up artist Pat McGrath collaborates closely with Dolce & Gabbana to create the beauty look with select Make Up classics paired with brilliant new shades. Explicit and ethereal pinks are imbued with light; deep neutrals are refined and distinctive.

The look lends an air of romance and a sense of intimacy with lucid washes of pure colour and sensuality. A truly feminine aura that’s both suggestive and assertive; the look is exuberant with weightless layering of tone against tone pinks, that coalesce in a seamless elegance that is at once fresh and cool.

Moist, voluptuous lips beckon and seduce - soft-sculpted and defined with Soft, a new shade of the classic lipstick and the lipliner. The same hue adds sophistication to nails, through the new Soft shade of the nail lacquer. Eyes are delicate, yet smoldering with the eyeshadow duo in Rose, enhanced with the mascara in Black. Cheeks appear lightly flushed with the blush in new Delight.

The Romantic Collection is intimate yet ephemeral with a glaze of pinks dissolving into a rush of strong femininity “The Rose palette brings the collection to a new level; Dolce & Gabbana wanted to take risks with colour, texture, mood - and at the same time capture the essence of each element,” says Pat McGrath. “While the focus is on the eyes - very sexy, very daring - the soft voluptuous lips add an intensity that’s erotic. The rose look is very romantic, almost ethereal - yet very sophisticated.”
