Nars will release its holiday collection on November 14th in Japan. The collection includes:
  • Single Eyeshadow: Night Life (in silver)
  • Single Eyeshadow: Silent Night (in gold)
  • Duo Eyeshadow: Jolie Poupee (in violet and purple)
  • Lipstick: Canaille (in shimmering mahogany)
  • Lip Gloss: All Night Long (in dusty raspberry)
  • Blush: Super Orgasm (peachy pink with gold glitter)
  • Nail Polish: Orgasm (peachy pink with gold shimmer)
In the picture, the Duo Eyeshadow (in violet and pruple hues) seems to have fresh blue undertones that appeal to me. I am intrigued to check the colors in person when the collection is available in November.

The Super Orgasm Blush and Orgasm Nail Polish have already been available at Sephora. If you are interested to see the swatches and images of these items, check out my earlier posts listed below.

Anna Sui Nail Color in #802 (Sheer Gold)

Anna Sui Nail Color in #802

Recently, I bought a bottle of Anna Sui Nail Color in #802; a clear transparent base with gold glitter bits.

Anna Sui Nail Color has been updated with new ranges of Nail Color N and Nailart Color N beginning this fall. The old and new versions differ in packaging and color. The packaging of Nail Color features a heart-like shaped bottle, while the new version, Nail Color N, comes in a rose-shaped bottle. The Nairart Color N, however, remains the heart-shaped packaging design.

Anna Sui Nail Color in #802

The gold glitter particles are quite gritty or grainy. With a thin coat, the finish is very sheer with hints of gold. I prefer to apply at least three coats to achieve a more shimmering and glittery effect. It is also a great layering color over other nail polish. I like to use this sheer gold shade on top of other nail color to add a wash of color.

Anna Sui Nail Color in #802

As you know Anna Sui's cosmetic products are scented with its signature tea rose fragrance, and its nail polishes are no exception.

The lasting power is fine, not the best I have tried. Also, I found it a little more effort to remove the gold glitter particles on my nails. Other than that, this is a vibrant festive nail color for my pre-holiday season!

YSL Holiday 2008 Bow Collection

YSL is always one of my favorites when it comes to holiday collection. This year, YSL will launch the holiday 2008 Bow Collection on October 31st in Japan. This collection features rich and festive colors. The spotlight items, Lip Palette Bow Collection and Makeup Palette Bow Collection, feature exquisite packaging designs.

The Lip Palette Bow Collection comes in a matte gold butterfly case adorned with a glossy gold bow. It features a raspberry red lip color and a pink lip gloss that are both infused with a mango scent. The Makeup Palette Bow Collection contains two eye shadows, a highlighting shade and two lip colors in a black velvet pouch adorned with a black satin bow, cased in a clutch bag.

This collection also features a limited-edition 4 Colour Eyeshadow palette in purple, rosy gray, pink and brown. Overall, I think YSL, once again, brings us wearable, elegant eye and lip colors in deep and soft tones for this holiday season.

Product Review: La Mer The Hydration Infusion

La Mer The Hydration Infusion

La Mer is a brand name that has been known for its superior skincare and makeup products. In September, La Mer added a new product, The Hydration Infusion, to its high quality skincare lin
eup. I have been using it twice a day for six weeks and I am happy with the experience.

Crème de la Mer Moisturizing Cream

The Hydration Infusion
is a face treatment that hydrates and pre-moisturizes the skin to effectively enhance the benefits of Crème de la Mer. It comes
in a form of serum. Perhaps, you wonder why a "treatment" is needed prior to using Crème de la Mer, a skincare product known for its moisturizing and anti-aging effects. The explanation is when skin is dry and parched, it is difficult to absorb hydration and nourishment, regardless how moisturizing the product is. The Hydration Infusion is a high-potency serum that saturates the skin with hydration to provide an optimum condition to receive the maximum benefits of Crème de la Mer.

Texture
The Hydration Infusion is dewy, watery in texture. The consistency is slightly thicker than regular toners. It is easy to spread over the face and is quickly absorbed into the skin. It doesn't leave any sticky or filmy residue on my face.

Scent
This light honey colored serum has an uplifting and relaxing scent, very similar to
Crème de la Mer. I always like the unique aqua/marine like scents of La Mer skincare products because the scents seem to soothe the senses and restlessness in my skincare routine. I enjoy clean refreshing scents or minimum fragrance in my skincare items. La Mer is probably one of the few Western brands that comes in light clean scents that I don't find overly perfumy.

Ingredient
The key ingredients of this product are vitamins (vitamins C, B5, B12 and Magnesium), ferment, essential minerals (iron, manganese and copper), La Mer's exclusive Deconstructed Waters and magnetized tourmaline.

La Mer The Hydration Infusion

Result

My skin is very dry and sensitive in the cold seasons. Although my T-zone is prone to getting oily in warm weather, the cheeks are constantly dry. I have diligently used The Hydration Infusion twice a day, following with my regular cream in the first three weeks and pairing with
Crème de la Mer in the last three weeks.

I noticed this serum has greatly improved my dry skin, especially on the cheeks. It certainly gives my skin long-lasting moisture without causing any reaction.
My face appears brighter, firmer and feels softer. It sort of evens out the skin discoloration, and revives a healthy glow.

After using The Hydration Infusion, my fine lines caused by dryness have been diminished to some degree. To receive the maximum benefits, in my opinion, it is preferable to use it with Crème de la Mer Moisturizing Cream. I am pleased that this moisturizer soothes the redness, moisturizes dry areas, and has lessened the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles.

Summary
I think The Hydration Infusion works great for people with dry/sensitive skin as it does a good job quenching the skin, improving the skin tone, texture and fine lines caused by dryness.

Used with
Crème de la Mer Moisturizing Cream, it helps to further nourish my skin, restore firmness, minimize the fine lines, wrinkles and visible pores more efficiently.

For 4.2 oz, it costs $95 USD. It is probably not within everyone's budget. I do recommend you to stop by La Mer counter for a consultation with their beauty advisor(s) to try out the texture and find out if this one suits your needs.

Elégance Christmas 2008 Coffret Set

Elégance Holiday 2008 Coffret Set

Elégance cosmetics
will release its limited-edition holiday 2008 coffret set, Gem Noel, on November 5th in Japan. The coffret set includes a lip gloss, a mascara, an eye shadow as well as a pouch. The collection will be available in two versions of colors.

I am disappointed by this year's holiday coffret set. The simple festive-looking pouch is very pretty and all that. The overall collection, however, is less exciting than last year's holiday coffret set, which consisted of a duo color face powder, a duo eyeshadow compact, a lip gloss and a pouch.

This brand always offers beautiful eyeshadow palettes and face colors that amaze me.
I was just hoping that this year's holiday coffret would also feature some dazzling eyeshadow palettes or face colors that are festive for holidays!

At this moment, I don't have enough information about the color variations of this coffret set yet. I look forward to seeing more updated information on Elégance's holiday coffret set, and will keep you updated.

Beauty Ideal is a monthly online magazine by the Beauty Blog Network. This month, I was invited to contribute an article for the Beauty Ideal. This September issue is all about the fall 2008 makeup!

I am reporting a fall 2008 makeup trend combining the looks from ready-to-wear runway shows and cosmetic brands. I was trying to present the fall makeup looks, balanced between the runway looks and cosmetic brands' seasonal trends, that you can pull off easily in real life.

This issue also introduces the highlights of latest fall collections, thoughts on favorite fall makeup and fall makeup video tutorial edited by other of my fellow beauty bloggers. I invite you to the site of Beauty Ideal for the complete beauty reads of fall. :)

Coffret D'Or Holiday 2008 Release

Commercial Image of Coffret D'Or 2008 Party Makeup Collection

Exciting news about Coffret D'Or holiday 2008 release! It has been reported that Coffret D'Or will release its holiday 2008 makeup collection on November 16th, 2008 in Japan.

Sweet Dressy Palette from Coffret D'Or 2008 Party Makeup Collection

The upcoming Party Makeup Collection includes two makeup palettes. The Sweet Dressy palette features lilac, silver and purple eye shadows, and the Noble Dressy palette features gold, beige and gray eye colors. Each palette features three shimmery eye shadows (a base color, a highlighting color and a deep shade) and three lip colors (a sheer glossy color,a shimmery gloss and a pigmented shade) in a sleek mirror-like case adorned with faux jewelry.

Noble Dressy Palette from Coffret D'Or 2008 Party Makeup Collection

The makeup colors are probably to
o sparkling or shimmery for my liking. But the palettes do come in very cute packaging! After seeing the swatches and close-up images of the Sweet Dressy palette at this Taiwanese blog, I am adding it on my Christmas wish list.

I will update this post when I have more product images and official information on this collection.

Shiseido Integrate Glamerous Rouge Lip Gloss

Integrate is a drugstore brand under Shiseido Corporation. It is a relatively young brand that has been established in Japan since 2006, targeting at women in the 20-40 years of age. This brand focuses on wearability and fuctionatily that help women create makeup looks efficiently with its understated elegant makeup colors and packaging designs.

Their makeup colors are soft and wearable. Though their packaging style is rather sleek and minimalist with a grown-up feel, I still found it lacks a sense of uniqueness.

Lip products have been this makeup line's top-selling items. The Glamerous Rouge lip gloss particulary is the star product for the brand, and has been quite popular in Japan. When it was first launched in Japan,
about 9.6 millions of Glamerous Rouge glosses were sold within half year.
Shiseido InteGrate Glamerous Rouge Lip Gloss Integrate Glamerous Rouge Lip Gloss

Glamerous Rouge is currently available in 12 shades. This is my review on the shade in PK 321 (light pink).

Packaging
Shiseido InteGrate Glamerous Rouge Lip Gloss Integrate Glamerous Rouge Lip Gloss PK321

The lip gloss disguises as a pen. There is a tube in the center to dispense the gloss to the spatula. You can see through the middle of tube to check how much lip gloss is left.

Shiseido InteGrate Glamerous Rouge Lip Gloss Bottom of Glamerous Rouge Lip Gloss

The dispenser is a smart design! You twist
the tube clockwise at the bottom to dispense gloss to the applicator. And if too much were dispensed, you could actually twist the bottom anti-clockwise to draw the gloss back to the tube from the applicator.

Shiseido InteGrate Glamerous Rouge Lip Gloss Integrate Glamerous Rouge Lip Gloss PK321

The transparent applicator is soft. It has good flexibility for a smooth and even application. The applicator's tip comes in a round shape, making it easier to spread the color, and achieving the curve shape especially for the center edge of my upper lips.

Shade
PK321 is a light pink shade with noticeable multi-colored shimmering particles. It is free of fragrance.

Shiseido InteGrate Glamerous Rouge Lip Gloss IntegGrate Glamerous Rouge Lip Gloss PK321

The color is similar to my Anna Sui Sui Lip Gloss #304, which I reviewed before. The differences are Integrate Glamerous Rouge PK321 appears less pinkish, yet more translucent on my lips due to its sheer consistency, and the shimmering particles of Sui Lip Gloss #304 are finer and more subtle.

Texture
The gel-like texture is richly moist. I don't feel it is sticky on my lips.

Finish
PK321 goes on sheer and glossy with a hint of pink on my lips. Once it settles in, the shimmering particles are less noticeable as seen in the tube.

This lip gloss evens out my fine lines to impart a nice wash of color. What I like about it is it gives a fuller dimension to my lips in a natural-looking way. And it adds clarity and luminosity to my lips for a dewy moist and subtle shimmering finish. For a long-wearing result, I would suggest at least 3 layers of application.

Affordability
Integrate is considered a lower pricing makeup line. This lip gloss costs 1,260 Japan Yen, which is about $11-12 USD. It holds 1.8g of gloss, which is very little compared to other lip glosses in the market. If you breaks down the unit cost of InteGrate Glamerous Rouge lip gloss, its unit price is even higher than Dior or Chanel lip glosses (Dior Addict Ultra Gloss Reflect is 5.5g for $24.5 USD; Chanel Glossimer lip gloss is 5.5g for $26 USD).

Summary
Overall, I enjoy using this lip gloss as it provides an evenly glossy and subtly shimmery finish. I found the color is on the sheer side. I expected it would be much more pigmented for a semi-opaque coverage. It is great to be worn alone when I just want to add shine and luminosity with just a hint of color on my lips. For a good result, I think this lip gloss looks beautiful on top of other of my pigmented lipstick(s). If you like sheer-tones for lips and would like to get a taste of Japanese drugstore lip glosses, Integrate Glamerous Rouge lip gloss would be a great choice.
